Paganini was already impossible. So why 7/8?
Paganini’s 24 Caprices are among the ultimate tests of what a violin can do. But what happens when you take that virtuosity out of its familiar rhythmic world?
24 × 7/8 (After Paganini) is a live recording by violinist Chingiz Osmanov, built from the musical DNA of all 24 Caprices and reimagined through the asymmetric pulse of 7/8.
The project does not attempt to modernize Paganini, arrange him for a different sound, or simply add another layer around the original music. Instead, it asks what might emerge when the Caprices themselves become the starting point for something new.
Virtuosic violin meets an uneven pulse. Classical tradition meets contemporary classical and jazz influences. Familiar gestures begin to shift, stretch and collide — while Paganini’s original energy remains at the core.
The result is 24 × 7/8: not Paganini as repertoire, but Paganini as a point of departure.
